LRC cultivates the air of Research and Development and explores it to the uttermost by escalating the UMT community’s awareness of research work and their relevance.

  • Besides conducting workshops, seminar and interactive learning talks, the Library also organizes tailored/ reinforcing professional training programs that combine both theoretical and experimental approaches of learning and formative action. It also holds specific advanced training on statistical software to increase the effectiveness of research.
  • It extends assistance and cooperation in preparing proposals, conducting projects, compiling statistics for reports, carrying out a systematic review, writing a thesis or a term paper.

Learning Resource Center (LRC) also organizes seminars, workshops, and trainings for UMT comunity to support academia, research, and life-long learning into the following areas.

Literature Searching Services

Library offers assistance to the users in identifying sources and resources, extracting facts and figures, and exploring data and databases. It extends assistance and cooperation in preparing proposals, conducting projects, compiling statistics for reports, carrying out a systematic review, writing a thesis or a term paper. Experienced professionals provide additional support in planning, implementing and evaluating literature searching services by tapping huge repositories of scholarly information.

User Education and Information Literacy

The learning resource center’s services employ in-depth instruction and cognitive methodology for the effective use of information, services, facilities, and resources. Regular library instructional sessions are conducted to enhance information-handling skills of the users and even to increase the effectiveness of research. Trained and skilled library staff design, develop and deliver information literacy programs. They also lend a hand to learners in becoming information literate. Instructions are organized for small groups as well as for whole class.

Digitizing Project

The knowledge services of the library will be introduced soon with the creation of databases comprising of journal articles, current affairs database collection and research produced by UMT students and faculty. This will have standardized features and can function on speedy information networks. Painstaking efforts are being undertaken to transform all existing large non-electronic indigenous information resources into eformat and integrate them into the overall family of online databases.

Knowledge Contributor

Knowledge dissemination is an integral element of the UMT Library. It furthers its objective in education by sharing learning resources with other institutions. The strategic thrust of the UMT Library is to help learning communities by providing quality learning materials to other institutions.

Resource Center for Special People

The UMT library in collaboration with department of special needs of UMT has taken yet another initiative to facilitate the learning requirements of special people by integrating their social rights in its working. Advanced integrated and participative planning of UMT library services include addressing the needs of special persons as a growing part of the society. The thrust of the project is to establish Library as a place that welcomes the entire community and proactively understand and respond to the information and learning needs of special people. The scope of the project is to embrace the changing landscape of the conventional concepts of library and put the up-and-coming trends into service in the learning processes for special people. It has the potential to offer unprecedented services: pedagogical innovation and knowledge applications and tools thus help to bridge the changes between virtual and real spaces.

Equity of Access

A core value and belief of the Library is equity of access. In order to safeguard the interest of special people and provide equal learning opportunity the Library has incorporated some basic principles suggested in information science to address the learning needs of special people.

Innovation and Engagement

Library offers unprecedented services, best practices in library, and learner-centered instructional spaces. It has enormous positive impacts on teaching, learning and research application. All library core services ranging from lending cycle to training and development, from referral to reference, from electronic to media communications, and from learning environment to congenial infrastructure are customized to provide better facilities to special people.

Valuing People

We firmly acknowledge the contribution of special people to the society and want to bring about improvement in the intellectual content of the said people.
