The Khurram Murad Learning Resource Center (KM LRC) at the University of Management and Technology celebrated World Book and Copyright Day 2026 on April 23, 2026. The event aimed to highlight the significance of reading and its vital role in the intellectual development and progress of society.
The celebration featured three key activities: a Walk, a Book Lover Awards Ceremony, and a Literary Expression Through Visual Art competition.
The walk started at 2:30 PM from the library's main entrance, proceeding around the UMT Mosque and concluding back at the library. Participants walked behind a banner promoting the importance of libraries and a passion for reading. The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, reflecting a strong appreciation for books and learning. At the conclusion of the walk, books were distributed among participants as a token of encouragement.
Following the walk, the Book Lover Awards Ceremony was held, organized by the Circulation Section to recognize Book Lovers for the years 2024 and 2025, along with the Library Ambassadors. The award recipients are as follows:

The final segment of the event, Literary Expression Through Visual Art, received an excellent response from students across various academic programs. Participants creatively designed book covers using diverse colors, patterns, and themes, demonstrating originality and a deep appreciation for literature. Their work reflected both artistic talent and a strong connection with reading culture.
At the conclusion of the competition, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the top three participants in recognition of their outstanding contributions. A selection of the most creative artworks is currently displayed in the University Main Library, serving as an inspiration for the wider academic community.
