Vision

We aspire to be a dynamic learning partner of the university dedicated to knowledge and information management for effective life-long learning of the participants.

Mission

Our mission is to serve the university in its educational and research initiatives in different ways, such as by providing a platform designed to support scholarly activities and scientific learning, by proactively delivering learner-centered services, by deploying cutting-edge digital technologies for accessing learning resources and by ensuring the availability of learning materials in a variety of formats. We strive to be the following above all else in order to fulfill our worthy mission.
Proactive: Constantly endeavor to (re)align our resources and services with the learner-centered approach.
Innovative: Constantly observe and comply with the up-and-coming trends in different disciplines to keep abreast of the evolving needs of our clientele.
Effective: Identify and evaluate information resources and services to facilitate the intellectual and creative efforts of our users.
Inspiring: Provide outstanding learning resources to groom the intellectual, professional and personal traits of our users and inspire them to achieve their goals.

Goals

  • To make the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) a vibrant and dynamic resource of knowledge and information sharing within the community of students, scholars, researchers, knowledge seekers and information science professionals.
  • To provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and other facilities required for the proactive delivery of library services and resources.
  • To nurture a skilled and motivated workforce which can provide excellent information sharing services and ensure that the users remain the locus of library planning and policy execution.
  • To select, acquire, organize, and maintain knowledge, information and other resources required to support the instructional and research oriented needs of the UMT community.
  • To impart and foster information literacy skills that support teaching, learning and research oriented skills of our faculty and students.
  • To collect and share information about indigenous knowledge and local research products in order to facilitate indigenous researchers striving to provide local problems with an indigenous solution.
